Once a month, the QI team runs a journal club for all those that are interested in improving the way we do and organize our science. Below you can find more information on attending, the schedule and getting credits.
-
Who can attend?
Everybody affiliated with the LUMC or the university of Leiden is welcome. Students, PhD candidates, faculty and support staff – all are invited.
When you are interested in joining, just subscribe to our email list by sending us an email. You will get an invite and all required information for each session directly in your inbox / calendar.
What can I expect?
Every session, one of us will lead a discussion on a topic.
That discussion is always rooted in the paper that we all read beforehand.
However, we want to go beyond criticism and strive to learn lessons for our own experiments, future meta-research projects and the way we organize our work at the LUMC.
How do I attend?
In principle, our workshop is every third Thursday of the month, from 16:00-17:00 somewhere in the LUMC. See the schedule below for details.
Who are the organizers?
The journal club is a collaboration of the department of clinical epidemiology, the directorate of research policy and the Animal Welfare Body Leiden | LUMC
Get credit
PhD candidates enrolled at the LUMC graduate school can earn 1 ECTS for attending seven of our Journal Club sessions. Alternatively, PhD candidates can attend four sessions and prep/chair one session – get in touch with us if you are interested. In order to receive your certificate, students have to log their activities via this form after each session. When you have reached the required number of sessions, please send an email requesting your certificate.
If you are enrolled in a different program, MSc or PhD, please check with their own program whether the certificate can be used to claim credit. MSc students can use count participation towards their lecture participation requirements.
